About the Author
Since the late 1980s, Nasreen Munni Kabir has made over 80 documentaries for Channel 4 TV in the UK, including the series Movie Mahal, In Search of Guru Dutt, Lata in Her Own Voice, Follow that Star (a profile of Amitabh Bachchan), Bismillah of Banaras, and the two-part documentary The Inner & Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan. Her last book was Conversations with Waheeda Rehman. Though she has authored 16 books on Hindi cinema, she is most remembered for her biography, Guru Dutt: A Life in Cinema (OUP, 1996). Kabir continues to live in London.
