He has in addition, until quite recently, been a general physician participating in unselected medical admissions. He has been responsible for the development of the Regional Immunology Laboratory, and clinical services for the North-East and Cumbria. He has particular clinical interest in primary immune deficiencies, allergic and autoimmune diseases and chronic fatigue as well as quality standards in clinical and laboratory immunology.
