Akshaya Kumar & Pooja Garg
Description
Literary Genres II: Indian is a rich exploration of the subcontinent’s diverse storytelling traditions – from the timeless wisdom of the Jatak Kathas and the wit of the Hitopadesha to the narrative depth of the Charitas, the lyrical romance of the Qissas and the meditative beauty of the Ghazal. Each section places these texts within their historical and cultural contexts, while providing pre-reading activities, glossaries, comprehension exercises, and practical tasks. Both a teaching resource and a literary journey, the collection invites learners to reflect on enduring questions of morality, justice, devotion, and love, while cultivating creativity and intercultural understanding. By blending classical texts with pedagogical tools, this work bridges India’s literary past with contemporary perspectives, revealing the continued relevance of these timeless narratives.
