A.K. Chakravarty

A.K. Chakravarty is currently Professor, Department of Immunology and Cell Biology, Centre for Life Sciences, University of North Bengal, Siliguri. He is a gold medalist from the University of Calcutta and a PhD in immunology from the University of Wisconsin, adison, USA. He has also served as a research scientist at the Molecular Biology Institute, University of California, Los Angeles. His current area of interest is the field of T cell activation and tumour immunology.Dr Chakravarty has published more than 80 papers in national and international journals. He was awarded a gold medal in 1997 by the Zoological Society of India in recognition of his contribution to the field of immunology. He was also awarded the Satyendra Puraskar by the Government of West Bengal for his book Gene and Genetic Engineering. He is a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India, and the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology.
